announces

the launch of ARTSchool

London: Dec. 3, 1999

Arbitrage Research and Trading (ART) Limited announced today that their specialist trading and consulting firm is to commence a new venture into the specialist training area. ART is well known for its work in the area of trading and consulting in advanced methods of risk/return evaluation and trade idea generation. ARTSchool is the third leg of the operation in taking this expertise to the market professionals and trading staff at operations such as banks, securities firms, corporate treasuries, and funds management. ARTSchool offers a wide range of seminars from one-day “Quickies” to the more in depth three-day seminars, as well as bespoke “in-house” courses. The focus is on practicality and P&L, the Press Officer at ART said “the market professionals who come on our seminars will learn both how to make money and how to save money in trading activities, and regardless of subject complexity we never loose sight of our raison d’ętre, maximising the bottom line”.

ARTSchool is run with a core of market professionals with additional expertise brought in on a case-by-case basis. The core faculty of ARTSchool includes Dr Oliver Bajor, ART Senior Partner, former head of derivatives and proprietary trading groups at organisations such as CIBC, Mitsubishi Finance, and Citibank, with special interest in directional trading, arbitrage, and risk management; Professor Nick Robinson, ART Senior Associate, an economist with extensive banking experience including being the chief economist of Chase Manhattan Bank, and Professor at the University of Surrey; and Dr Andrew Street, ART Senior Partner, a quantitative trader/structurer and risk manager who has headed up derivatives trading groups at Mitsubishi Finance, Nomura, Paribas, and who most recently managed the Financial Services Authority’s (FSA) Traded Risk Department.

ART Ltd (UK) was formed in early 1999 following from ART Ltd (Canada) and the amalgamation with on-going consulting and software operations started in 1980.  The ethos at ART is to provide a wide range of support and services to market professionals in financial enterprises focusing on optimising holding period risk-adjusted returns.  ART also offers a conduit to financial services that involve market risk (trade idea generation and investment in trading strategies) via our sister company red3, which is responsible for all trading and funds management activities that involve taking market risk.
