FileSecure®
Installation Notes
TG2e-Books rely on the FileSecure® "secure" Adobe® PDF
document system. This is a well tested system and works reliably
when employed in accordance with the Technical Requirements (see FAQ's).
The FileSecure® "Viewer" can be
dloaded from here (https://www.file-secure.com/Install/fsLoad/Setup.exe).
This is updated from time-to-time, please consider using the latest version.
Some operating systems/environments (such as
Windows XP®
and Vista®) may have special
settings that require attention.
1) If you are installing in a
corporate environment, then your IT department may have installed various
restrictions on what may be installed, and what may access the internet.
In these cases, please contact your IT department for assistance.
2) FileSecure® works well with various
operating systems, firewalls, and anti-virus products. However if you
see any of:
When installing you receive:
----------------------------------
* error in installation of file secure viewer, or
* error sub code:18001, or
* "you have no rights to modify the registry" message
When trying to register your protected file you receive:
--------------------------------------------------
* "Please connect to the Internet" notice
* Password box keeps popping up or appearing even after they enter the
correct password.
There can be several causes to these issues:
i) You have some firewall or anti-virus software running on your PC that
is preventing the File Secure Viewer from connecting to the Internet to
register your file.
Try TEMPORARILY disabling all anti-virus and firewall software that is
running on your PC first. Then opening the File Secure file. Once the file
is open and registered, you can then re-activate your firewall and/or
anti-virus software.
If you still receive the connection error, see point ii).
ii) Some PC may require you to be logged in as the administrator in order
for File secure to connect to the Internet or to install software that
modifies the registry like the File Secure Pro Viewer.
If you are using Windows Vista, right-click on the file and choose
"run as administrator". You should now be able to run the file without
errors.
If you are using Windows XP:
1. In Windows Explorer, click the program executable file that you
want to open.
2. Press SHIFT and hold, right-click the program icon, and then click
Run as.
3. To log on using an Administrator account, click The following user.
4. In User name and Password, type the Administrator account name and
password that you want to use.
iii) In Vista or Win7 you may need to "Run as Admin", when opening a
file, for example
